We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. If you need to make other payment arrangements, feel free to call our corporate office. We also accept payment from government organizations as well. If you do not have one of these cards available to you, we also accept pre-paid Visa, Discover and MasterCard. The rest will be due seven days before the course begins. If the remaining amount is not paid at that time, the student will be removed and will not be allowed to attend the class.
Keep in mind: this payment can only be made over the phone by calling our corporate office and cannot be made online. It is not necessary for parents to attend the first day of class with their students as long as they have uploaded the required paperwork to their accounts.
We do hold an informational parent meeting on the last day of class. For details, please talk with the classroom instructor. The cost for Segment 2 is not included unless you purchase the Segment 1 and Segment 2 combo at the time of registration for a discount.
Students can schedule drives through their Net Driver Ed account that they created when they registered. The username is the email you used to register. Typically, drive times are posted weekly by the instructors themselves. These times are also shared with the students. There are six, two-hour-long behind-the-wheel sessions. The student will be paired with another student in the class and the two of them will take turns driving with an instructor for one hour each.
This is when the four hours of observation are completed. All Star wishes to accommodate families and busy schedules by offering a wide variety of drive times, including before and after class and on weekends.
All Star does not assign drive times and we allow students to schedule their own drives according to when they are available. Please keep proper documentation of your scheduled drives and if any changes need to be made, please contact your classroom instructor. Students are expected to be present for every class and drive unless there is a good reason for an absence.
You will not receive your Certificate of Completion until you do so. It is imperative that students arrive on time for their scheduled drives. Please keep this in mind if you are attending a classroom location other than your own school, or a community location.
If the driving instructor decides that the road conditions are good enough to drive in later that day, they might call you to let you know drives will still take place as scheduled. Please make sure all of the contact information has been updated in your online account. We use late model, low mileage, 5-star safety rated vehicles. Each has passenger side brake pedals, giving instructors complete control.
Every car is cleaned and sanitized regularly and comes stocked with hand sanitizer and a first-aid kit. All vehicles undergo constant and detailed inspections by our operations department. No worries! Your certificate was emailed to you, so you should be able to go back and find that email to print it off again. Need it emailed again or resent to a new email? No problem! Give our office a call and we can resend it. We can only reissue certificates for classes you took with All Star, not with other companies.
Please contact the office immediately to have this reissued. It takes 2 business days to reissue a certificate, so please be sure to allow enough time if you need this by a specific day.
When contacting the office, be sure to have your full name, date of birth, and class location as well as the date that you completed the class. We do not fax copies to other driver education schools for road testing purposes, either. Please contact the office for more information. Students must be at least 14 years and 8 months old by the first day of class in order to attend.
No exceptions may be made with this rule since it is regulated by the Michigan Dept. The State still prohibits us from having more than a set number of students in the class, even if the class is virtual. State documents verifying your age are also accepted. Examples: passport, state identification card, etc. Segment one requires a minimum of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a licensed instructor.
Students will need to sign up for six separate sessions which will run for two hours per session. During these two-hour sessions, there is one other student in the vehicle along with your student and the instructor. The two students will drive for one hour each during the session. When a student is not driving, they will be using this time to observe and learn by filling out a worksheet in the back seat while the other student drives. Each student is required to have 4 hours of observation time.
This is a good question and there are a number of reasons All Star wishes for the students to sign up for their own drive times. Therefore, part of this responsibility includes scheduling and keeping accurate records of their drive times and communicating this schedule to their parents or guardians.
Yes, you can take the class to learn, but you will not receive a certificate for taking this class as it is not required by the state for adults. This document will allow you to participate in the driving portion of the class. You must bring a photocopy of your valid TIP to your first day of class along with a completed Michigan Adult Segment 1 contract, which can be found under the resources link on the home page of our website.
If you wish to postpone obtaining your TIP, you will only be allowed to complete the classroom portion of Segment 1. The green certificate is the Michigan Graduated Segment 1 Certificate of Completion — This is NOT a permit and it does not allow the student to drive with an adult or guardian. This document simply verifies that your student has successfully completed the Segment 1 program and may now apply for their Graduated Level 1 License aka their driving permit through the Secretary of State.
They are only qualified to drive once they have gone to the Secretary of State and been issued their permit. Students must be present to obtain this permit. Click here to view the Secretary of State Identification requirements. Click here to view the complete guide to getting your license as a teen in Michigan.
This is the day that the permit expires. The student has until that date to take a road test. Any student violating the rules and regulations as contained in this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action and possible expulsion from the class.
No refunds are granted due to disciplinary action that prevents a student from completing an All Star Driver Education course. No refunds are permitted once a student has begun the class. Refunds take business days to process and will be returned to the card used for original payment.
No refund will be issued if the student is expelled due to disciplinary reasons. To learn more about our discipline policy, please see above.
Segment 2 is a three-day class consisting of six hours of classroom instruction. The entire process takes a minimum of six to seven months depending on when the student receives their Graduated Level One license and how quickly the student and the family wish to progress.
All services must be paid in full at the time of registration. If you do not make a payment, registration will not succeed and your spot will not be held in the class.
If you have already paid for Segment 2 when you signed up for Segment 1 as a combo, please call our office and a representative can get you signed up. There is no driving portion in Segment 2. These packages offer one and two drives for the student, respectively. These drives are treated as private lessons, and are not guaranteed to be completed during the duration of the Segment 2 class, as state-mandated drives are given priority.
You must have held your Level 1 license for at least 3 months, and have had 30 hours of driving practice with at least 2 hours at night logged in either an app or on paper. You will need to upload these documents to your online account 7 days before the class, along with your Segment 2 contract. This contract is emailed to your parent first, and after the parent completes their portion it is forwarded to the student to complete theirs.
A copy of the document can also be found on the Michigan homepage on our website so that you can upload it directly to your account. The issue date is explicitly labeled on the new Level 1 license, the physical card and the receipt from the Secretary of State.
All Star strives to work with students of all learning and physical levels, however, there are certain limits to what we are able to do. For further information, please contact the main office at We do not have any payment plans available for Segment 2. Payment must be made up-front during registration.
It is not necessary for parents to attend any days of Segment 2. They are more than welcome to sit in, though.
Due to the brief length of Segment 2, students are not allowed to miss any classroom sessions. If the student misses any days of the class this includes tardiness and leaving early! Driver Testing Businesses. In addition to normal classroom lecture and discussion, weekly written assignments and quizzes will be given evaluating each student's progress. A certificate of completion will be given at the end of the course.
Actual on-road driving time will consist of six hours in order to meet the state certification guidelines. Attendance: State law requires 24 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. Anything less than 24 hours will result in the student being dropped from the program and the student will need to re-register for another class.
Students must have completed Segment 1 and received a Validated Green Certificate. Students must hold a Level 1 Learners License for 90 days prior to the first day of class. Students must provide their Level 1 Learners License number at the time of registration. Due to the pandemic, it is required by the State of Michigan that the class size does not exceed 20 students.
It requires practice, skills and knowledge. Therefore, educating novice drivers of basic skills and control tasks, and providing them guidance in making good decisions when driving, is critical.
The Secretary of State certifies and regulates driver education providers and instructors and has committed to ensure the safety of all those who share the highways in Michigan.
Part of this commitment is the promotion of professional driver training to provide a foundation of the proper skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will allow drivers to operate safely for decades into the future. The Secretary of State has launched a new modernized system that brings more efficient, convenient services for providers and instructors called CARS e-Services system.
