The basic attack is assigned to the F key by default. Moreover, skills also have varying ways of attacking enemies. The amount of mana consumed depends on the skill used. The game offers you four skills slots though at first, you will only have one skill to place in one of them.
You will unlock more skills as your keep playing the game and your character becomes stronger. There are three types of skills: Active, Buff, and Passive. The Active skill are ones that involve your character using their weapon in a unique way to harm enemies. Buff skills are more passive ones that just provide combat advantages like stunning enemies. Passive skills, contrary to Active and Buff skills, do not require the press of a button in order to activate.
Moreover, skills also have segregated level ranges. To simply put, when you reach a specific level, you unlock a new set of skills that you can equip. You can then pair these newly unlocked skills with those from another level range. For example, an active skill from the Level range can be placed on one skill slot while a Buff skill from the Level range can be placed in another. If you want to know more about skills and how to upgrade them to make your character stronger, read this guide here.
Level 1 Strafe gives us more damage than maxed Double shot. After that, we start working our way into Arrow Rain. Even Squids, which used to be the best training spot for Strafe first builds back in GMS, are better with Arrow Rain build in Royal training spots explained below. At around this point, you can stick few points into Puppet whenever you want if you feel like it would help your training. At Gobies it can help as a good tool to de-aggro Bonefish that you accidentally hit. Simply cast Puppet twice first cast aggros them to Puppet, second one de-aggros the fish , and they will be going after you no more.
After maxing strafe, you get a few points into Puppet to get the timer up. I find 20 seconds at level 6 to be enough for 3rd job training Gobies, Squids, Spirit Vikings, Death Teddies , but you can go for more or less if you feel like it. Remember that the timer only increases every 3 levels.
One could technically leave Hawk even at level 15 and pump more points into MB, Thrust or Inferno, but I would advise against it since our 4th job bird does not stun like Hawk does. Finally, you have to choose between Thrust, Inferno and Mortal Blow. None of them are necessary for your future Bowmaster career, but all bring something different to the table.
Below are my thoughts on them. This combo let's you snipe Jr. Newties at Destroyed Dragon Nest, which some say might be a lazy way to train, but we'll call it relaxed. Also you'll be able to solo Headless Horseman already in your mid 80s. Before you are strong enough to kill Jr. Newties, you can train at Voodoos, Death Teddies, Windraiders or Squids, all are good spots for Strafe build and let you practice using Puppet. You start out with just maxing Strafe first, and afterwards getting 5 points into Puppet to unlock Silver Hawk.
Still you should eventually get Hawk to 29 before finishing up your 3rd job build, it's that useful. After Hawk, we'll get some more points into Puppet to let us hunt Headless Horseman better. Strafe isn't quite fast enough to knock him back, but if you place Puppet in strategic places, you can maul Horseman down for a good while without being disrupted.
Here's an example on how to use Puppet at the Crossroads in Masteria. After being done with your Strafe, and having a good level of Silver Hawk, you can choose between maxing Arrow Rain or finishing up Puppet for a longer timer. It really depends on where you want to train. Puppet is an interesting skill that no other class in vanilla Maplestory can match, and mastering it will be a key when hunting at many areas. Thrust vs Inferno vs Mortal blow I feel like this deserved its own segment.
You did the thing! There are a plenty of different ways you can build your Bowmaster depending on what you want to achieve with your character. The core for all Bowmaster builds is pretty much the same, getting 1 Hurricane and 9 points into Sharp Eyes as soon as possible and afterwards concentrating on maxing Hurricane, Sharp Eyes and Bow expert in order of your choice. I'm pretty sure the damage it gives is insignificant. Originally Posted by SienZ Use spoiler tags for the builds, it's a pain to scroll down.

If it doesn't work, and they proceed in attacking you, then you can move on to 5. What is "a desired amount of Bonefish"? This is the super duper handy training spot guide for all magicians for all ages, all levels, for the rich, the poor, and the not-so prettys. Simple enough. Before getting started, I reserve the right to make changes to this information based on my own experience and on people's suggestion.
So do not come back to me saying something like "omg that monster used to be fast experience, now its not wtf". Changes will happen, patches will come, and new training areas will be released. I do not take any credit for "discovering" good training spots, however I do take credit for scavenging for the information and putting them all into one nice neat thread in one place the public to use.
Let's play Grind Story! Update 4. Pretty stolen pictures! Update 3. Update 2. Remember: possibly. No promises though. This spot is a potion burning furnace. Like srsly, zomgwtfhax0rs kind of experience. Maybe even very slow.
Full attacker party -- partying to the maximum carrying capacity of the map for instance, a full Dual Ghost Pirate attacker party is people. There are usually priests in full attacker parties. Carrying capacity various from map to map. Party with -- This strictly means you party this class with the exception of maybe other people in the party for extra killing. Split map with -- Very different than "Party with ".
Split map means you go out on your own, killing in your own spot s. When eachother's skill buffs runs out, just get together and recast. The spawn is even more insane in a party, and it looks like it can fit up to 3 people. Don't be a jerk and bust "ccpls" on everyone you see.
